Great Graduation Party Ideas

By Sheila Dollarsby

Graduation is one of those events that only happens once or twice in your life an is a very exciting time for not only the graduate, but also for the family and friends of the graduate. To celebrate, most graduates, be them college graduates or high school graduates, have a graduation party in their honor. Everyone know that a party is not complete without invitations, guest lists, food, entertainment, and other special ideas. So to keep from having a boring and run of the mill graduation party, the following compilation of ideas was made to help you have a graduation party that's both fun and unique!

6 Creative Ways to Make Your Graduation Party Memorable

Number 1 Begin by choosing a theme for the party. The theme should be something that is reflective of the interests and the personality of the graduation candidate. For example, perhaps the soon to be graduate is a big fan of football. If that's the case, then the decorate with football stuff, serve hot dogs and hamburgers, and send out invitations that are football related. Or perhaps your future graduate is into fashion. If this is the case, then decorating with fashion pieces, sending out invitations that are fashion related, and eating fashion inspired food would be appropriate and fun.

Number 2 The makings of any great party begin with great invitations. Why not customize and personalize your graduation invitations by having a graduation photo of the graduate printed on the cover of the invitation? Sound impossible? Well it's not with Kodak Gallery, where you can upload your photo onto an invitation and have them printed out for as little as $1.50 an invitation.

Number 3 Mementos are always nice to leave with when you go to a party. Send guests away with great a great keepsake that's not only thoughtful but useful: a calendar! Have calendars printed up for the next calendar year and have pictures of the graduate spotlighted in the calendar. The pictures should chronicle the life of the graduate while he or she was in school.

Number 4 Have graduation attire for your guests to put on when they get to the party. At the front entrance to the party, you can place big brown trash bags, a pair of scissors, cardboard, and tassels. Have your guests make their own caps and gowns and wear them for the party. All you need is a little glue gun to make the caps, using one piece of cardboard for of the flat top, and another half sheet to be made into a circle and glued to the flat piece. Take a picture to remember the guests in their attire!

Number 5 A great activity that should be included in a great graduation party is to have each guest draw a picture of the graduate on a piece of card-stock. Then on the back of the picture, the guest should be asked to write a memory that they have of the graduate on the back. Then all the cards should be compiled, put in a book and given to the graduate.

Number 6 For a final touch, make sure that you send your graduate off with a great gift and a memorable speech that he or she is going to enjoy and remember for years to come.
