Symptoms of Mold

By Thomas Sheldon

The symptoms of mold are often hard to detect and people may suffer permanent damage before seeking treatment. Blak mold is the most dangerous form of mold and happens to be the most common source of residential infestation. You should seek out the advice of a doctor and have your home inspected if you find that you have been sick for a long while, especially during times of high humidity. Your illness could be the result of black mold in your home and if not diagnosed quickly, it could lead to serious long term health issues.

Black mold can be responsible for causing the sudden onset of asthma, even if you've never experienced it before. A doctor should definitely be consulted if you are having difficulty breathing. If you know that your home might contain black mold, inform your doctor so that you can be treated appropriately. This knowledge will help with his diagnosis. Black mold related illnesses are not usually assumed by doctors unless they're informed of the likelihood of black mold in a patient's home.

These illnesses are caused by the inhalation of black mold spores, which harm the lungs. When left untreated, a person's lungs can become filled with black mold and can be suffocated from oxygen deprivation. This can be especially harmful to babies and younger children.

The elderly will also suffer more from black mold illness as well. Their lungs are not as strong as a healthy adult or teens lungs would be. Smokers will also be more susceptible to black mold illness as they have already damaged their lungs with cigarette smoke.

Seek medical attention immediately if you think you may be suffering from symptoms of mold illness. You can reduce the risks of permanent lung damage by receiving treatment quickly. It is imperative that you leave your home until it is thoroughly cleaned and black mold free.

Until your home has been declared safe, remain in your alternate housing. If you're a home renter, the responsibility will fall on your landlord to remove all present mold. If they deny responsibility, you'll need to read up on local tenant landlord laws to find out what you need to do to make them take care of the job.
