* Laser tattoo removal - highly concentrated pulses of light are directed onto the tattoo to break down the pigmented skin markings but this procedure is usually painful, you will be required to use numbing creams. To complete the procedure, laser sessions may take 20 series which cost up to $200 to $500 each session. This procedure may cause blisters, scars, and scabs.

* Removing tattoos through Dermabrasion or Salabrasion - Dermabrasion is a method that uses a small portion of spray to freeze the tattooed skin. The skin is then sanded using a rotary abrasive instrument for peeling the skin. Salabrasion is another method that uses ordinary tap water with salt applied on the tattooed area. The skin is then abraded. Both methods are painful because of the peeling of the skin and therefore require the use of local anesthesia and dressing for the scar. How many sessions will depend on the level of the tattoo.

Effectiveness of the cream varies according to the tattoo but the only recorded side effect is the effect of bleaching on skin. Since this is a gradual method, continuous application of cream is necessary. The good thing here is that creams are affordable.

It should be applied regularly like the procedure for wart removal since the tattoo will not be removed overnight and may take some time to completely remove the tattoo. This method however, is more affordable that having a surgery.

* Tattoo removal using Glycolic acid peel - using alpha hydroxyl acid, the tattoo will just fade out as time goes by with regular application. It can be done at home and it costs less because it does not involve any surgery.

* Removing tattoos through surgery - Surgery procedures to remove a tattoo is usually done by a surgeon or a professional dermatologist.
