Ideas for Making a Valentine Gift Basket For Your Special Someone

By Kim Allarie

For many people, Valentine's is a day to celebrate love and romance. Most people choose to express their love on this day with a special gift. If you want to make a big impression on your loved one, you should make a Valentine gift basket. You can fill it with special treats and presents to show your love and caring. It's much more personal than the usual roses and chocolates.

However, these items can still be the basis of a thoughtful gift basket. Beautiful flowers and rich chocolates are always a good idea for a Valentine's Day basket. Find some truly excellent chocolate and place it in an attractive basket. Tuck in a fluffy teddy bear, and then place a rose over top of everything. Cover it with red cellophane and some Valentine's decorations, and attach a big ribbon. Elegant and understated.

If you'd like to go to some trouble to really impress your significant other, there are lots of other ideas for what to put in a Valentine gift basket. Consider a basket loaded up with spa bath products. With the addition of a good book, a bottle of wine and a scented candle, you've created a relaxing spa basket. Other more expensive items that can be presented in a gift basket are heart shaped jewelry, cologne or perfume.

Making a gift basket for a male isn't as hard as it might seem. Fill a basket with toiletry products like cologne, aftershave, and deodorant in a favorite fragrance. Try filling a basket with some candy that he loves, and top it off with a trendy watch. And you can't go wrong by stuffing a big basket with his favorite munchies, along with a few bottles of his favorite beverage.

A really innovative idea is to make up a Valentine's Day "dinner in a basket". Don't got out to a crowded restaurant; stay home and savor an intimate dinner in private. You'll need to use something the size of picnic basket. Load it up with all the ingredients necessary to make your favorite meal. Also include a bottle of wine, a gourmet dessert and a romantic candle. It's only right that you offer to cook, but it will be so much more special if you prepare the meal together.

Don't forget to attach a card to your gift basket. If you've got some talent, make one yourself that expresses your feelings. Otherwise, look for a truly meaningful card, and then write a few lines about your feelings.

Making a personal gift basket for Valentine's Day can really showcase your creativity. And there's nothing wrong with using the Valentine's Day staples like chocolate in your basket. Your loved one will be thrilled at the thought and effort you expended.
