Who doesn't remember Babe Ruth? Even if you are too young, and are a baseball fan, we bet you've heard of Babe and the House That Ruth Built. Even one of his superstitions remains popular among Major League players-"whenever I hit a homerun, I always make sure I touch all four bases." Babe was a curious man, ferocious in baseball, women, and ideals, and we remember his as "The Babe," fondly so, because there will never be another man like him, in any sport.

George Herman Ruth, Jr. was born on February 6 in 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland and was the son of Kate Schamberger-Ruth and George Senior. Kate had eight children with George Sr. but only two would survive past infancy - a daughter Mamie and The Babe. Babe didn't have the best of childhood memories, taking care of himself most of the time. At seven, Ruth was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys-more of a reformatory and orphanage than a school. Without his parents, except some weekends and holidays, Babe was what the Nuns at St. Mary's called "incorrigible."

Ruth never was one for rules and was not a good fit for the strictly ordered life offered by St. Mary's school. However, he did learn his lifelong love of the game of baseball while at the school. Jack Dunn, manager of the Baltimore Orioles (then a minor league farm team for the Boston Red Sox) was amazed by the then nineteen year old Ruth's talent and immediately signed him on. He was given the nickname of "Jack's newest babe" by teammates - a name that stuck.

After only five months, Ruth was signed to the Red Sox, where he spent six years playing the outfield and as a catcher. He rapidly gained popularity with fans for his performance on the field as well as his colorful nightlife off the diamond. Ruth played his first of many World Series games in 1916, where he set a record of fourteen innings pitching; a record which remains unbroken to this day. In World Series games alone, he achieved a record of 29 2/3 innings with no score as a pitcher - this record would stand for 43 years. He was traded to the New York Yankees in 1919; it wasn't until 2004 that the Red Sox won the World Series again, a phenomena which became known as the "Curse of the Bambino".

With Ruth on the team, the Yankees would win 4 World Series and 7 American League Pennants. Ruth hit an amazing 54 home runs in 1920 alone. Babe Ruth proved to be just as popular with the fans in New York as he had been in Boston and became a celebrity. The Yankees stadium, built in 1923 soon came to be known as "The House That Ruth Built". Fittingly enough, Ruth hit three home runs on opening day and later that year, the World Series title. Ruth would separate from his wife of 11 years, Helen Woodford in 1925, with whom he had adopted a daughter, Dorothy. It was not until Helen dies in 1929 that he would marry his companion, the model Claire Hodgson. His first at bat that year, he hit a home run out of the park, which he dedicated to Hodgson.

Throughout his 22-year career in baseball, Babe will forever be remembered for his 60 home runs in 1927, a record that stood until Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in 1961. Sports fans everywhere argue to this day who actually holds this record since Babe hit his 60 in 154 games and Maris hit his in 162 games. No one, however, can deny The Babe's impressive .690 lifetime batting percentage-something that may never be seen again. Along with The Babe, sports writers gave him nicknames like The Great Bambino and The Sultan of Swat.

Babe's famous moment in baseball came in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series where the Yankees played the Chicago Cubs. In the 5th inning, after he already had one home run, Babe came to bat and was at a count of two balls and two strikes. Before the next pitch came his way, Babe pointed to the center of the field bleachers and slammed that puppy right where he pointed and some believe it is the longest home run ever hit out of Wrigley Field.

When Babe did not get his desired Yankee manager position in 1935, he left the Yankees and signed with the Brave's as not only a player but also their first base coach accepting the promise of their manager position the following year. With his manager outlook grim, Babe hit three home runs in one of his final games against the Pittsburgh Pirates, where only a meager 10,000 fans saw him tip his hat at that last home run-his 714th. Still, with Babe's 8,399 at-bats, 2,211 RBI's and a career 2.28 ERA as a lefty pitcher, The Babe remains a true hero in the hearts and fans of baseball everywhere.

Another theory about the reason for migraine headaches has been linked to the genetics of inheritance. These theories say that a child of migraine sufferers will have a 50% chance of having migraine headaches too.

The probability of inheriting migraine headaches is even greater if both parents are sufferers of this painful sort of headache. If both parents have frequent migraine headaches the chances of the child having migraine headache symptoms rises to about 70%.

However, even though many professionals think that inheritance plays a role in migraine headaches, the genes that are considered to be the causes of migraine headaches have not been identified or even isolated. When we begin to experience migraine headaches the only warning signs that we may expect to receive are a throbbing pain in the temple area and slight sickness.

As the symptoms of the migraine progresses, the pain becomes much worse. Unfortunately, since the causes of migraine headaches have yet to be found and we dont know what triggers these attacks, there are no medications to cure this type of headaches yet.

It is no surprise that eReaders are becoming increasingly popular. After all people always love the thrill of owning a new gadget. But is there more to this device. Would it appeal to the book readers as well as gadget lovers?

True, there is an unparalleled satisfaction in reading a book. Especially if it is a quality bound book and, even more, if it has some history with you.

The eReader, on the other hand, seems to be just another electronic gadget that will complicate our lives rather then simplify them. I myself have always been a book person and never wanted to read off my computer.

When you read a book, you are engulfed by the experience. If it is not the first time reading that book, you can always reminisce what it was like to red it for the first time. Remember your surprise on the turn of the plot. Notice the stains and creases you accidentally made on some pages. So, books are my passion. Electronic reading is not.

Everything has changed last Christmas when my parents got me an Amazon Kindle eReader as a gift. You can imagine my reaction when I unwrapped it. What were they thinking? Didnt they know me at all?

When my frustration started to wear off, I actually sat down to examine what had this strange device had to offer. It was a lot different than I though it would be. The first think that shocked me was, of course, the display.

The display on the eReaders, and on the Kindle as well, uses a technology called eInk. It makes the page look like it was real paper. There was absolutely no strain on my eyes.

After flipping through a few pages I came to a conclusion it was not as bad as I thought. And, since I like to travel a lot, this could be a perfect companion and my luggage could weigh a lot less.

Of course, I would never give up on the comfort of reading my real books at home, but when traveling this device could be a great alternative.

So I guess I would have to answer Yes to the question. I think the eReader has a place on the shelves of many homes, not replacing the books, but providing an alternative in situations where books are not available.
